Best Social-Emotional Curriculum – Do’s and Don’ts

Let the record show that I’m not trying to scare anyone… but I feel obligated to warn you that this article may cause feelings of uncertainty… welcome to 2020.

Now that I have your attention, it’s time to have a serious talk about the future. Thinking about what’s to come, especially during a pandemic, feels hopeless and pointless. Our personal and professional lives have been drastically altered, and we’re left feeling like birds who forgot how to fly. If you’re like me, then you’ve been taking it one day at a time, which is tough for someone who loves to plan. I have always had an organised and perfected plan for the next steps in my life. In grade school, I was focused on high school. In high school, my plans were college-oriented – and so on. Now that I’m a senior in college, I find myself… confused.

A pandemic during my final year of college is where my life-plan got derailed. I should be at Syracuse University right now – enjoying my senior year with friends and studying hard for graduate school. I made the tough decision to take a gap year because of my chronic illness, which increases my susceptibility for the Coronavirus. So where does that leave me? It took me months to figure that out myself. I am keeping busy by working three jobs, managing my health, and learning that future plans inevitably change. It seems like a simple lesson, but it’s hard to let go when you envision things going a certain way. That’s why it is so important to find the best social-emotional curriculum to prepare for the future and its unpredictability.

Adapting: Making the Best of Changed Plans

My unintentional gap year is allowing me to be a member of the workforce – the real workforce. I’ve had lots of jobs as a young adult from working on my schools’ campuses or summer jobs at the local amusement park. Now, I work for several major organisations which are giving me more real-world workforce experience – try saying that ten times fast. The skills I’m learning now are skills I wish I had the opportunity to learn earlier. A strong social-emotional curriculum is not something that students are traditionally taught in schools, but it should be.

Feel Confident for the Future by Investing in Your Skills

Leaders of Evolution is preparing the future generations of students for their careers in the workforce. Their specialised e-learning courses on personal development and skills allow students to learn the Do’s and Don’ts from the best social-emotional curriculum. The strength of our workforce depends on students’ abilities to be autonomous and independent workers. Our courses allow learners to establish a greater sense of professional self-awareness using a workplace learning plan and to apply the 4 C’s Framework – Competence, Confidence, Character, and Connectedness in their workplace context.

Students will need to be able to adapt and become smart learners, smart thinkers, and smart doers to succeed. Leaders of Evolution inspires career-ready leaders of tomorrow, today. Our course, Future Skills of the Workforce, offers the best social-emotional curriculum and is designed to empower students aged 16 to 18 years with the career readiness skills required to be successful in the 2030 workforce.

The 2030 Workforce

While the year 2030 might seem kind of far away, we’re actually closer to 2030 than the year 2000! Our brains are accustomed to feeling more connected to the past than the future, but we’re going to blink and be cheering “happy new year” on January 1, 2030, before we know it! As time flies by, I realise that I’m grateful for this “accidental gap year,” as I’m lovingly calling it. It has given me the time to learn these valuable skills – skills that were not directly taught by a professor or teacher.

Based on a 2020 Education Report, 52.44% of school principals say equipping students with the skills of the future is one of the most pressing challenges for their school. Leaders of Evolution uses the best social-emotional curriculum to equip all students with essential life skills, so they feel better prepared to excel in the future. Instead of fearing the future, students will have confidence in their skills and ability to handle anything.
