How Can We Help Students From International Athletics Programs Become Leaders In The NCAA?

Many students from all over the world come to the United States in order to participate in the NCAA during their collegiate career. With so many schools and competition levels to choose from, the NCAA is a destination for many international student-athletes. In fact, there are over 20,000 international student-athletes enrolled and competing at NCAA schools right now. The United States has as strong of international athletics programs, so student-athletes take advantage of opportunities in the US.

While it can be difficult for international student-athletes to leave their home country and come to the United States, the NCAA has provided many resources for them to feel as comfortable and at home as possible. As a proud supporter of the NCAA, Leaders of Evolution is also dedicated to helping students from international athletics programs and has created athletics development programs for students from international athletics programs.

Athletics Administration Magazine

One resource for international students is the NCAA Athletics Administration Magazine, a digital and printed publication that is written to aid collegiate athletics. It was written by the members of the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics, or NACDA and primarily to be used by other NACDA members. However, this magazine has grown and been developed to serve as an information guide for all student-athletes, including those who come from international athletics programs.

Many international athletics students may be unaware of the organization and governing bodies of the NCAA and each institution’s athletic departments. However, the Athletics Administration Magazine can be a great and useful resource for students from international athletics programs. Different sections in the magazine cover different topics for each audience.

The magazine sheds light into managing athletics facilities, promoting and advertising for sports, and marketing and athletic development programs. This information would be useful to athletic directors and marketing directors of universities or individual sports programs at those universities.

By reading the Athletics Administration Magazine, students from international athletics programs can learn more legal ramifications and also current issues that the NCAA is currently facing. Staying up to date with this important information will benefit students from international athletics programs and help them succeed here in the United States.

The Athletics Administration Magazine publishes four copies annually and is written for both universities in the United States and also Canada.

NCAA Leadership Development Programs

For many students from international athletics programs, transitioning to an NCAA university can be a stressful time. Many times, these student-athletes may struggle to fit in with other athletes and may have a more difficult time adjusting to their new environment. As a result, many students from international athletics programs who come to the NCAA will experience a loss of self-confidence or leadership abilities. However, the NCAA has created an athletics development program for student-athletes to learn leadership skills.

NCAA student-athletes can sign up for training sessions and workshops where they can learn the leadership skills necessary to succeed on and off the field of their respective sport. These athletics development programs can be extremely beneficial to students from international athletics programs as they can learn to become team leaders and playmakers for their athletic programs.

The NCAA wants all student-athletes, both from the United States and from international athletics programs, to become successful leaders and take these skills into their future careers. Partnering with the NCAA, Leaders of Evolution also has similar athletics development programs for student-athletes.
