I pride myself on being an athletic and adventurous gal. I have played tons of different sports from swimming to soccer to ski racing, my favourite. I love trying new activities and anything that involves an adrenaline rush. One thing I have yet to attempt is driving a race car. Now as the self-proclaimed queen of bucket lists, you can bet that auto racing is on that list. The drivers I’m accustomed to seeing are the testy ones in Pennsylvania in the States where we don’t even take a drivers education course! Don’t ask me why because I’m just as confused as you are… One organisation that takes motorsport a little more seriously is Motorsport Australia. 

Motorsport Australia is the nationally self-recognised governing and sanctioning body for four-wheeled motorsport in Australia. It was founded in February 1953 and previously known as the Confederation of Australian Motorsport. It is actually far more diverse than one would imagine. Motorsport Australia has over 580 affiliated clubs across the country.

How to Climb to the Top of Your Sport

These clubs organise approximately 3,000 events each year! Many of these events are considered starter events, which serve as a cost-effective way to encourage new racers. There are many types of Motorsport Australia, where you can get involved without any special preparation or training. You can join a club, apply for a competition license, and get into club, state, and national championship events from there. Sounds easy right? 

To a certain extent, it is “easy” to get involved, and Motorsport Australia is arbitrarily welcoming to newcomers. The tricky thing about sports, though, is that you have to climb your way to the top. This requires an entirely different mindset and set of skills to succeed.
