Our Valued Partners Improving Coaching and Sports Culture:
AFL’s Essendon Football Club partnered with us to develop The Train Like a Bomber course. This course showcases how online education can be leveraged by professional sporting clubs to help their athletes and staff whilst connecting to their fan base and the wider community through contemporary learning. The Flight Deck learning hub is for athletes, coaches and students. The Flight Deck will initially provide learning opportunities for secondary school-aged students, taking the venue-based Train Like a Bomber course into the virtual world of classrooms nationally. This initial course will be accompanied by several others to be delivered in the next 12 – 18 months with a focus on the Next Generation Academy athletes and local coaches initially.

Essendon focuses on uplifting the culture of women sports in Australia. A destination for women footballers through its world-class facilities and dedicated mentoring program, Essendon provides women-focused services from leading experts on women’s health and sport culture. With training and goals aimed toward deep engagement, Essendon is focused on developing their players on and off the field. The Essendon Women’s Network that helps development off the field is one example of their effort to promote women’s sports in Australia.
The initial output was Australia’s first coaching course intended to improve sport for people with an intellectual disability, the result was something special for a partner that wanted to make an impact – a community of learning that made sport culture more inclusive. We launched the Young Athletes Coach Accediditation online coaching course, supporting an inclusive fundamental movement skills courses for children aged 2 to 7. SOA Coach Development Framework will provide clear direction for the what, why and how of coaching athletes with an intellectual disability. Our courses aim to drive organizational culture into the future, specifically linked to coach development and online learning.

SOA are a national sporting organisation for people with an intellectual disability that are part of a global movement and culture. A movement that in the truest sense, uses sport as a tool for social cohesion. Our courses prepare coaching staffs to provide vulnerable Australians with much-needed access to physical activity.
